Outdoor Fireplace Plan And Design

I moved into my current home about a year ago. It was a bit of a fixer-upper, but I decided to buy it anyway because the price couldn't be beat. I spent a lot of time remodeling the interior first, and am finally satisfied with how my living space looks. Now I can turn my attention to the backyard, which is badly in need of landscaping work. There are really only two requirements that I have for my yard: I want to build a huge patio and I want to install an outdoor fireplace on it.

I'd never had an outdoor fireplace before, but a lot of my friends absolutely swear by them. That's because outdoor fireplaces come in a wide variety of styles and designs, and can either be functional or decorative depending on your specific needs. I had no idea what kind of outdoor fireplace I wanted, so I asked my contractor to bring in some brochures prior to starting construction on my patio. I thought it might be helpful to get his expert opinion on the matter since he told me he's installed countless outdoor fireplaces over the years.

When the contractor arrived, the first thing he asked me was what I wanted from my outdoor fireplace. Did I want it just for its looks and just to give off a bit of extra heat for cool nights in late summer and early fall? Did I want to be able to cook on it so that I wouldn't need to purchase a grill as well? Did I want a portable unit or would I rather have a permanent installation? Did I want a wood burning outdoor fireplace or a gas one? Fortunately, my friends had prepared me for this barrage of questions by advising me to think about these things in advance. I was reasonably sure of what I wanted from my outdoor fireplace, so the contractor was able to narrow down my choices to a few of the best ones.

I wanted to wait a couple of days before making my final decision. Because of the potential cost involved, I had to be absolutely sure about which outdoor fireplace to buy. So I spent a couple hours on the Internet reading various outdoor fireplace reviews and comparing prices and features of the models that I liked the most. Once I had taken in all this information and weighed the pros and cons of each product, I went ahead with my purchase.

My patio is almost finished now and my outdoor fireplace is in my yard ready to be installed. I can't wait for all the wonderful evenings I am going to have with my family and friends sitting around my brand new outdoor fireplace!
